It's Posh Pet Party Wednesday!
Today's topic is a treat you can use for your fur babies next party, some delicious peanut butter dog biscuits.
I found this great recipe on allrecipes.com. They have a lot of great recipes to try for dog treats and this one had simple ingredients and instructions.
I made the treats and it took no time at all, but Bebe acted as if I was taking all year! As soon as he smelled the peanut butter he was all excited.
Before you make your dog any homemade treats, it's great to know if your dog has any food allergies. That way you know what treats you can make or what ingredients you need to substitute.
Here's the recipe (makes about 4 Dozen):
Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
2 cups whole wheat flour, or as needed
2 cups spelt flour
2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
1/4 cup flax seeds
2 1/2 cups warm water
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Combine wheat flour, spelt flour, oats, and flax seeds in large bowl. Stir in water and peanut butter. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in more flour as needed until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with small cookie cutters into desired shapes, and place 3/4 inch apart on greased cookie sheets.
- Bake 40 minutes. Turn oven off; leave biscuits in oven until completely cool.
