Pet Party Theme: National Dog Day Party/Celebration

Elizabeth MarrowComment

It's Posh Pet Party Wednesday!

I know all fur parents enjoyed the social media frenzy with all the pictures and video clips of their fur children. What better way to celebrate this great national fur holiday and throw a pawty!

It can be a simple get together, with some friends and family who have dogs and want to spoil them with a gift and/or treat.

I think is a great idea to celebrate National Dog Day next year. Even though there is going to be a lot to clean up, why not fill a room or a section of it with balloons and have your dog have it's way with them.

Even a quick trip to the dog bakery for a cupcake would great for your fur baby to enjoy.

What are some great special treats you would give your dog for National Dog Day?

Every birthday party or celebration needs a dog cake! If you you're a great baker and want to give a try on baking your fur-baby a cake, here's a recipe you can use.

I made a mini cake for Bebe to see if he loves it, and he enjoyed every bit of it.

Please remember when making baked goodies for your pets, it's great to know beforehand if your pet has any food allergies.

The recipe was found on Allrecipes.com.

Here's the recipe:

Party Dog Treat Idea: Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Elizabeth MarrowComment

It's Posh Pet Party Wednesday!

Today's topic is a treat you can use for your fur babies next party, some delicious peanut butter dog biscuits.

I found this great recipe on allrecipes.com. They have a lot of great recipes to try for dog treats and this one had simple ingredients and instructions.

I made the treats and it took no time at all, but Bebe acted as if I was taking all year! As soon as he smelled the peanut butter he was all excited.

Before you make your dog any homemade treats, it's great to know if your dog has any food allergies. That way you know what treats you can make or what ingredients you need to substitute.

Here's the recipe (makes about 4 Dozen):

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour, or as needed

  • 2 cups spelt flour

  • 2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup flax seeds

  • 2 1/2 cups warm water

  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Combine wheat flour, spelt flour, oats, and flax seeds in large bowl. Stir in water and peanut butter. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in more flour as needed until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with small cookie cutters into desired shapes, and place 3/4 inch apart on greased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake 40 minutes. Turn oven off; leave biscuits in oven until completely cool.

Dog Clothes Can Be Fashionable and Functional

Elizabeth MarrowComment

It's Posh Pet Fashion Friday!

Today's topic is how dog's clothes can be fashionable and functional at the same time.

Some may think dog clothing is not necessary or functional but that is not the case. What if it was snowing right now and no one came up with the snow coat/jacket? You would be cold and not protected from the elements. Someone thought that people need to be protected from weather elements, so why not our pets?

Bebe in his Bur-baby all weather coat

Bebe in his Bur-baby all weather coat

This is an all weather coat that Bebe is wearing. Bebe would be protected from the rain, snow and cold while on his daily walks around the neighborhood. His fashionable, yet functional coat is very posh. What fashion forward pooch wouldn't love to add this to their wardrobe.

Dog shoes are functional for those dogs who live in colder climates. Can you imagine having to walk in the snow barefoot every time you need to use the restroom? Doesn't sound too fun, huh? You're fur-baby would appreciate some snow boots. This dog is grateful for their shoes so they can run and play a little longer without having their toes cold. Dog shoes/boots come in all shapes and sizes. From shoes made out of leather to shoes that look like tennis shoes. Some crafty owners even make dog shoes out of balloons. That's very resourceful!

What are some other examples of functional dog fashion?

The birthday party trend for dogs is being more popular. People see their pets as their children, why not have a celebration of their day/month of birth.

This is the perfect time to brainstorm and think about what you want your pet to dress up as for halloween. Even though halloween is for children, the fur-babies around the world should enjoy it as well. Seeing pets dress up for halloween is one the most cutest things ever. The creativity that some pet owners possess is amazing. The ideas that they come up with to dress their pet, some are original and maybe a little odd, but all of them cute!

Pet Party Game: Who's Top Dog?

Elizabeth MarrowComment

It's Posh Pet Party Wednesday!!

Today's topic is the pet party game, Who's Top Dog?

It's basically a game where the dogs have to do certain tricks and are timed to see who does it in the shortest time.

Here are some tricks the dogs can perform:

  • Jumping through a hula hoop
  • Sit command
  • Lay down command
  • Stay command
  • Bark on command
  • If you have enough room in your backyard, make an obstacle course

Have someone designated as the time keeper and have them write down everyone's time.

The dog with the least total time is the top dog!

What other tricks should be added to the list? We love to hear back for fellow fur parents and dog lovers!

It's Pet Posh Party Wednesday!

Today's topic is Obedience/Puppy Training Graduation Party.

Your fur baby has been working hard in their training classes. Getting that diploma/certificate is a great way to brag about their achievements. Or you can take it one step further and throw them a graduation party!

What a cute idea to get your friends and your fur baby friends together for a great time and acknowledging the honoree.

Have the diploma/certificate in a posh frame for everyone to see, if you have time have a picture of your pet in their cap.

This is an example of an adorable picture you can take of your pet with their cap. Why not hire a professional photographer to take pictures of your pet so you can mail it to all your guest with the invitation.

Have some graduation inspired treats. Serve cute cupcakes with graduation cap and diploma toppers. If your pet learned a few tricks and their not crowd shy, why not have a showcase where you can show everyone what they have learned. Make a mini photo booth where everyone can take funny, graduation inspired pictures with the graduate.

A fantastic way to celebrate a milestone in your pets life with friends and family.

We would love to hear some of your obedience/puppy training graduation party experiences.

Pet Party Theme: Adoptaversary

Posh Pet Party WednesdaysElizabeth MarrowComment

It’s Posh Pet Party Wednesday!

Today’s topic is the pet theme party, adoptaversary.

I know some are wondering what an adoptaversary party is.  Well, I’ll gladly tell you. When you adopt your pet, that day may be one of the best days of your life. So why not celebrate the day you welcomed your pet into your family.

Sometimes when you adopt a pet, the shelter may not know the exact date of your pets birth. They can estimate how old they are, but not the exact date of the birth. Even though you don’t know the exact date of birth, you can give your pet the celebration party they and the whole family deserves.

A great way to announce the celebration is with an invitation or an evite. Have a picture of your pet on the invitation to let everyone know that your special pet is being honored.

As a fellow fur-parent, I have a lot of pictures of my fur-baby. Create a slideshow of pictures you have taken all year. Your guest will love to see how your love grew between you and your adopted family pet.

With pet bakeries or should I say “barkeries” becoming more popular everyday, why not support these businesses and buy a cake or some specialized treats for this special occasion. If you do not have a pet bakery in your area, some are able to mail these baked goodies to your house.

Have the honoree wear a special collar and/or leash so they can make their stylish and posh entrance.

What better way to tell your adopted pet thanks for all the unconditional love they have given you within the year.

I’m excited to hear some adoptaversary party stories!
